Good news for model 27 owners

Two model 27-2s sold last night on Auction Arms. Both were in presentation cases, (both cases needed restoration), both had target stocks, hammers, and triggers. They were both in very good condition, (light turn lines, no rust or dings. probably 96-97% bluing). Seller said both had been fired.

5 inch --- $2,415.00
The same bidder bought both.

Sure makes me like my 27-2s even more than I thought I did.

Good price. I bought my 5" M27-2 (new) in 1978... it just felt right in my hand. Yes, it's been shot a few times in the years since. Been smart enough to hand onto.

Not so fast...

That is a double edged sword my friend. And we all know one buyer doesn't set the prices. To get a better idea for the market check completed sales and observe how many similar revolvers at lower prices did not attract a single bid.

I purchased two m27-2 6" barrels both in 99% condition no box. I'm underating them there like 99.99%. One in nickel and one in blue. I'd never part with them. I purchased two m28's in the same condition from the same seller.

We talked here before about the m27/28 n frame prices going up. I think once the exchange from the older owners changes to the younger owners and the musical chair game stops and these become rare finds again the prices will become more stable at $2k /$2.5k.

I never seen the s&w, colt and ruger revolvers in 357mag in the lgs used for sale in many decades. Never seen a one till the past five years. It's still hit and miss locally. There's more online. I guess there cashing in or trading them in for plastic.

I've got a near mint 8-3/8" 27-2 with presentation case, so no luck for me on the collector value, but it is a nice revolver.

However, mine is a laser with 38 Specials with 5.7gr Unique under a 125 Rainier. Makes for an incredibly soft-shooting gun that anybody can get behind and learn the fundamentals on.
