Some months ago a good friend of mine (well known grip maker and highly competitive shot) asked me about 15-22s. I had really ignored them and was making do with a CMMG conversion unit in my shorty AR.

After reading everything I could find on them (a lot of it here) and some hands-on inspection, I finally picked up one of my own the other day. Have now had it out twice with just the irions and to say I like it is an understatement. The last piece of shooting kit that impressed me as much was the ACOG on the AR so after a lifetime of shooting I don't hyperventilate easily. A first shipment of must-have bits and pieces is inbound as we speak, and no doubt there will be more.

Forking out almost $500 for a .22 is a bit insane, but if anyone is on the fence about getting one of these little guys, I'd say go for it.

It's going to be a .22 summer.

With the price of ammo these days the .22 is the only reason I can still get out to the range and have some fun.

As much as I think the tactical .22 rifles are a bit overpriced . . . it starts to pay for itself after a few hundred rounds

I have a DPMS dedicated .22LR upper that I have used for years as highpower practice. I wanted a new toy and picked up a 15-22 and I absolutely love it.

Of course, .22 ammo being cheaper than centerfire is a big factor, but this rifle is just awesome. I justify the fact that I HATE using up my centerfire stash (as in lots of S&B 9mm bought for $4.79 box, etc.) and then have to replace it for $15 a box by shooting the .22 almost exclusively now and the 15-22 makes it much more fun.
