Today I brought two guns to the range that I cherish very much. I'd normally post a picture of my best targets of the day but one of the Gal's who was there cleaned up and threw my targets in the dumpster - I was not going dumpster diving either - lol.

One was the first lever action rifle I ever got. My Dad bought if for my birthday about 40 some odd years ago. It is a Marlin 1894-S chambered in 45 Colt. I shot this carbine many many times but I used it almost exclusively for 20+ years competing in SASS Cowboy matches. I wanted it in 45 Colt caliber so it would shoot the same loads as my two Colt Single Action Army Revolvers. For long range SASS matches I used my Marlin 38-55 rifle. Today I was shooting it at 50 yards, rested on my shooting bag and on the B-3 pistol sized target almost every shot was in the 2 1/2" black. I shot 50 rounds and let some of my friends who were with me shoot it as well. Lots of fun!

The second gun I brought was my Dad's Colt 1911 WW2. I don't shoot that 1911 that much but felt today was the day. I shot 50 rounds of Winchester Military hardball through it as well as a box of my own 230 grain RNL reloads. All went great and it shot very well - almost all in the black at 50 feet. One of the girls really likes shooting that and she actually shot pretty well. Normally she's a .22 and .380 Gal. Again, no pic's today.... sorry. A nostalgic, beautiful day at the outdoor range. I even got to shoot a friends AR15 - not a big fan but it does shoot very well. He also brought out a 100+ year old 22 single shot bolt action rifle - I believe it was a Harrington & Richardson - nice, old, accurate nostalgic - shot hat one too. :D
