I never knew that day could be so dark. I heard from a friend of mines wife, that my friend Frank had passed away due to suffering a massive heart attack. Frank was in at the tail end of the Vietnam war serving as a crewman in a Huey. Franks unit is the one shown in the news landing on the embassy in Saigon, evacuating people before the enemy came in.

Rest in Peace friend. :(:(

I had not called them for awhile and learned my lesson. That lesson is, if you haven't called a friend in awhile but think about it? better do so while you can. I was shocked and ashamed I had not kept in better touch.

Sorry to hear that. I well remember that photo.

One of the moderators on a car forum I am on a lot is still flying Medevac choppers. He got his start in Vietnam flying gunships.

the ringo kid ,

Sorry to hear of the passing of a friend. Friends , True Friends are few in most peoples lives. The kind you could call any time of day , and they would come, no questions asked. No need to feel ashamed , I am sure you would have been there if He needed you. He would have known this in his heart . May He rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss, Ringo. Please don't beat yourself up because you failed to keep in touch more than you wish you had. We all get busy, time goes by (it flies by at my age) and before you know it, months or sometimes years go by when you realize you haven't talked to a friend or relative.

He's in a better place and probably looking down on you totally understanding you got busy and time got away from you.

Thanks gents. I'd reply better but WiFi connection is bad. I was very shocked because the worst anyone knew is occasionally he had bouts with gout. One thing I'm greatful for, is he got to see his one son, get married. I know its good advice to let it go, but I've never been able to do that especially concerning a good friend. I can't post videos but, he loved old music like, Lili Marleen and other somber songs like, Mon Legionnaire.

I think I'll stop by Specs before I go home and get a 2 oz bottle of Cognac.

I live about 5 hours from where I grew up and lived until '91. It's hard to get back to see people. I've missed seeing people before they passed then missed funerals because I didn't hear about'm. It depresses me some but I guess there ain't much I can do about it. 'Time waits for no man.'

Sorry about your buddy passing Ringo.

Thank you. Frank was one of a kind. A short story, about ten years ago, the History Channel did a filming at his home because he had, I think, ten WWII German vets at his home for a kamerade gathering. One I remember, was Leo Froschel, who had been one of Rommels drivers. Frank was one of my WWII German Militaria collecting friends.

Don't beat yourself up Sir! I'm sure he knows you as friend! That's all that matters. He knows!

Thank you. I know he's in a better place. No more dealing with bad customers at Lumbermans, nor leaky basement.
