I'm a member of several Facebook pages dedicated to guns and accessories. Missouri law allows face to face transactions between qualified Missouri residents without a NICS check, so these pages are popular in our parts. As you might imagine, items for sale are offered high, and bids to purchase are low, which regularly offends each party, and arguments ensue.

Today, a nice fella in what could properly be called the foothills of the foothills of the Ozarks posted a DPMS Oracle in .5.56 for $750. He listed a variety of accessories, including an optic, a bipod, a vertical foregrip, new buttstock, a couple extra magazines, etc. The very last line of the description, which I had to scroll down to see, is "Spray painted with camouflage Krylon."

Ha ha, must be a Missouri thing. Seen a used rifle for sale at a LGS spray painted, not just the stock, it was barrel and all! Discussed with the clerk how they should clean it up if they expect to sell it. Week or so later when I went back the clerk informed me someone "fell in love" with it and bought it. To each their own I guess? :p

I do 'cause I are one!

I'd bet he drives a Primered pickup?? With 3 matching white lettered tires and one Blackwell. And duct tape and plastic on the passenger side window? The seat is covered with a Mexican Blanket!

U Gott'a love rednecks! LOL

Who am I kidding? I'm from Tennessee!! That's what we call a show truck!!

I'm all for it if it is done clean. What I saw was a failed attempt at spatter painting I'm guessing. Should of taken a picture but didn't think of it at the time. I was stunned with amazement someone would do such a thing to a beautiful rifle.:p

Look on the bright side. If you do buy it, not too many are going to want to steal it from you.

Too, it should pass muster, that it's not some ole "black assault" rifle.:D

Buy it. And have him sign it. In 30 years when they're all banned, it could be considered art work? And hung in a museum! We all know rare art is worth more signed!

^^^^NEJ, I'll pass. ^^^^^

QBall would be proud of me for remembering that word!

Real rednecks don't get mad in a penny-ante card game.

I guess I R one. Never have made a mistake, thought I did once, turned out I was wrong. :) Never had the guts to paint  any firearm. Have sunk to a little camo tape during turkey season. Genuine Rednecks are proud of their trucks and guns. Never say anything bad about either, at least not out loud.

BUBBA'S COUSIN THAT NOBODY TALKS ABOUT.

Sad to say but ain't we all got a little redneck in us? Looks KEWL, the further away, the better it looks. I wonder what school of fine gunsmithing he went to. I'd let him do a trigger job for me anytime.:eek::eek:

A friend of mine once ordered a pair of Remington 870's for him and his son to turkey hunt with. Not the new 870's with the synthetic stocks, but the old deluxe version with the scroll engraving on the forend. I watched him take them out of the boxes, carry them into the back of the shop and spray paint them with green, brown and black spray paint. He really didn't care that he ruined them,at least in my opinion. But it was no big thing to him at all. The man was,and still is,a millionaire several times over, has hunted all over the world and has one of the finest collections of SxS shotguns I've ever seen (no,none of them are spray painted). I guess it's all relative in that here's a guy that could afford to book multiple safaris in a single year and probably spent as much for a couple of boxes of ammo for his double rifles as he did on the two 870's. And just for the record,he is a self-described redneck. So anyhow, that's the story. Make any comments you like. He could care less. ;)

There was a little remington 600 in 308 that made the travels through our local gun shows. Had enough paint in different colors including the scope on it to paint an aircraft carrier. Picked it up a couple times thinking "truck gun" but the bore looked pretty crummy. I once knew a guy who was a master with a rattle can. When he got done no overspray, bleeding colors. Just not my cup of tea. Frank

Can you break the redneck cycle???

Can the redneck cycle be broken in one generation? I try not to be a redneck, but I was raised by one so it probably shows through some time. Kind of like missing a spot on the spray painted cammy job.

Don't think so, it's already in your blood. Honestly I'm part time redneck. For example when I'm in my Cowboy Cadillac, aka diesel pickup, with Hank Williams on I'm neck, when in my daily driver I'm just an old white guy trying to be hip.:D

And don't forget their huntin' dogs neither.......

An AR ehhhhhh.... Just a tool. Paint away if ya' like.
He didn't break out the Krylon on a Holland and Holland
