Hello,
Nice to find this forum.I only have a few S & W's. A .44 mag that was gifted to me and .22 Kit gun plus the one I am trying to identify.
A Hand ejector, serial 813580, Cartridge ".38 S & W Special" (yes I know that is a .38 special) Fixed sights, 5" barrel, no model number in the yoke.

I can provide the number of screws if needed.

I got this from the estate of a very close friend who had dementia. I helped liquidate the estate except this one because it would not open. I finally got it to a real gunsmith and if was just froze up from the old grease. Something I am told is common with the older guns. It is in pretty nice condition. An estimate of its value would be nice also. I assume this is one of the police .38 specials brought out by S & W when the 38 special was brought out.
Tell what you can. I am not a revolver gun, I am a SxS guy.

Thanks in advance
Jerry

Based on the limited information, I'm guessing it is a .38 Special Hand Ejector M&P, circa 1940-1945. Serial number range for those years was approximately 700000 to 1000000.

Value is based primarily on condition. As you can tell from the serial numbers, there were lots of these manufactured and still in production.

So we need detailed pictures. I suggest you start a new thread in the S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961. The experts here will provide more information.

S/n 813055, a 6" barrel, shipped Aug 1941. Being a .38 special with a six inch barrel that is a bit unusual for that time frame. Might be a police gun.
