Howdy from South Carolina, and welcome to the forum.

Don't stop at just pheasant, your also the friendly hosts of the Sturgis MC rally, and the celebrated landing pad of alien space craft at Devils Tower. :D

Welcome from Georgia. I gotta agree regarding pheasants; I recently did a prairie dog hunt on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in south central SD and I've never seen so many pheasants in my life. They were all over the place! Lots of prairie dogs when we got there, a few less now....

Welcome from a SD native transplanted in NC.

Thank you. Would love to take credit for Devils Tower but unfortunately, it is in Wyoming.

That happens almost as often as people getting confused about whether Mt Rushmore is in ND or SD.

Welcome from Texas my friend.

Great childhood memories of Pheasant hunts in SD, freezing my arse off.

That's normally the effect of the world class goose hunting. You're usually walking enough pheasant or grouse hunting to stay warm - unless you were born and raised in the south.

Sadly, it's a pale shadow of what it used to be before both pheasant hunting and prairie dog hunting got really popular and commercialized with out of state hunters (no offense, it's just a fact).

The same applies to the superb walleye fishing SD used to have. Between over fishing and a well intended but not well thought out Salmon stocking program in Lake Oahe, the Walleye and Northern Pike fishing isn't nearly what it was 30 years ago. We used to throw the little ones under 4 pounds back and 6-8 pound Walleyes were pretty common.

You also can't leave out the excellent white tail and mule deer hunting as well as the superb antelope hunting in the western half of the state, or the pretty fair Elk hunting in the Black Hills.
