Howdy, I am a well seasoned (54)sailor, new to S&W. I was in the market to get a .45acp the other day, and while looking over all the 1911 variations, I saw a large SS Semi-Auto in the "looking for a new home" section.

I ended up purchasing the first 4506-1 I had seen since 1991. Brought it home and disassembled for a though inspection. The pistol has almost no wear, the grips were clean, with no dings at all. It has been fired, but doesn't look like very often.

The internet, ironically, has very little information regarding the 3rd generation Semi-Auto. My son's martial arts instructor lead me to this forum. Said all things Smith can be found here.

Thank you for letting me join your group, I look forward to lots of questions and experienced wisdom.-Charles

Welcome neighbor from southern Wake county. You'll find a bunch of good folks on this forum. If you are looking for a good gun store in the area check out Fuquay Gun & Gold.

Welcome, Charles, from over in Greenville!

There's a bunch of good guys from the Forum up your way. Start hanging out in the Semi-Autos section, and you'll meet some of them for sure.

Congrats on your 4506-1! A fine entrance into the world of the Third Generation Smiths. Watch for 18DAI's posts from over toward Greensboro; he's one of the gurus of these guns. Lots of other fellows around the country, too, including a major-league gunsmith for the Third Gen guns from down in Alabama, BMCM, who is a retired Coast Guard Master Chief Boatswain's Mate.

You'll like this place. Welcome!
