Grip extension question

I have the 6906 and would like to use some mec-gar mags I have come across threads that claim you can only use the extension on the S&W mags then some say on mec-gar mags too but not the 17 round mags as they have a different base plate. Before I order mags can someone verify which mags can use the extension?

When you say fifteen round mags, do you mean S&W
or Mec-Gar? Will the extension work on either one?

I can only vouch for the S&W mags, never used a Mec-Gar....

I talked to a David at S&W Customer Service & was told that
there is not a grip extension available for the 6906 15 round
mag. Any ideas?

Personally I have never seen a S&W extension for a 5906 mag to be used in a 6906, not even sure if they made them, I use the "Grip Plus 2" made by PGS Inc., you can find them online.....Precision Gun Specialties

Thanks for the info! I believe that 5900 series mags work
in a 6906...somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again, Grif! I went on PGSInc's site & found the
adapters. For future reference, they are made to enable
the use of a 5900 series 15 round magazine in a Model
6906. I'll be ordering me some after the first.

They will work on any S&W 59, 459/659, or 5900 series mags, the mag in the pic is a second gen 14 round 659 mag......

They make them I just ordered 2 of them tell them you want the extension for the 59 series mag I think its part number part# 24212

I dont know why the base plate on the 17rd mec-gar mags would differ from the 15rd as I believe all they do is chop the legs and hollow out the bottom of the follower. Can anyone verify the 17rd mec-gar mags have a different base plate?

I called S&W today & the part number was correct. I have
