This is my first post in this section of the forum, as I do not have any S&W in this age group, and totally unfamiliar with this era of S&W's. But last week, as I was looking around EBAY, I found a set of grips, described as Pearl type fitting an N Frame revolver, and marked on the back side with a 21, .38/44 Heavy Duty, .38/44 Outdoorsman, and 357 magnum. They were in perfect condition.
So I got them wanting to put them on my 28-2, strictly for show. But when they arrived today, they did not fit the 28. Noticeably narrower, and the frame stuck out both front and back of the grips. Looking at their size, I then put them on a K frame and they fit perfectly.
So my question is, did the N frame grip size change from these models to the later 28-2's?
Here are photos of the grips.

I think that you bought some mismarked grips. Ns have always been N size, and Ks have always been K size.

Yes, those are mis-marked from the factory.

Those are J. Scott, K frame and will not fit an N frame . Send them back to seller for refund or keep them for future K frame. The price you paid was fair and not excessive.

Thanks for all the replies. I am fine with the K frame fit. Not worth the trouble to return them, and the mismarking is not the sellers fault, so I will keep them, as they look just as good on the K Frames.

Same Thing Happened to ME

I just had the same problem noted in a post last month buying what were claimed to be smooth target grips for N frame that were in fact K frame articles, genuine S+W accessories but not N frame.

Experts on the forum picked them out right away as K frame grips after looking at the backs of the panels even though there were no markings.

My question would be how can one tell from a photograph of the back of the grip panel that it is for N or K frame?
