Grip screw for old M & P

I bought a set of grips for my K frame M & P Model of 1905 - 4th change (manuf. 1917) from a S & W Forum member, but found the new grips are much narrower than magna grips. I need a shorter grip screw. Or should I try to shorten a newer screw?

Any help would be appreciated.

Measure the screw you have, from under the head to the end. The screw you need will be .995". The next longer is 1.090. Typically a longer screw cannot be shortened because the threads are only as long as the needed to be.
