Hi everyone,

I have had the Shield for almost a week now and must say the gun is excellent. One issue I have run into though is how my hand fits the narrow grip. I have a very wide palm with average length fingers and when gripping the narrow grip, it really grinds into the first joint on my middle finger. It even hurts my finger just dry firing for a short bit. I absolutely understand this is my problem and not a problem with the gun but as I really like the Shield, I want to find a way to make it work.

Anyone have any experiences with using a Hogue or Pachmayr grip yet? I have never used one as all my other guns with wider grips don't bother me in the slightest. Also, all of my other guns have fingergroves so I have no problem with a sleeve that has groves (might even prefer it). I don't want to just wear a glove to shoot as that is not how I would CC.

Thank you for your help.

I'm also looking for a grip sleeve and haven't seen one made just for the Shield yet. Maybe one made for a Keltec PF9 or Walther PPS would work.

I had the same issue with the first knuckle on my middle finger. Something with trying to get a solid grip on this little gun just didn't agree with me, and my knuckle was raw, just from dry firing!

To alleviate the issue, I simply sanded down the texture from the under side of the trigger guard, making it smooth. So far, so good!

also the grip sleeves for the kahr CW9 fit the shield quite well.need to trim a tad off the bottom curve but.

I use Houge wrap around's on most of my medium frame glocks because i have giant crazy man hands and im 6'4 haha. they work great and reduce felt recoil some too!

Lyman Customer Service Dept. (Pachmayr) says, "We do not have plans to make this grip right now, but we will pass the request on to our marketing department for there consideration."

I have been unable to get a response from Limbsaver as to which model will fit best, #12012 or #12013.

Well if Pachmayr makes some for the Shield I hope they make a set for the Compact M&P also. They say the regular M&P one works but it actually leaves a lot hanging over the bottom of the grip. I ended up trimming mine but I hate trimming rubber as it never comes out straight and ends up looking really getto.

just use an old bike inner tube. that is what is on all of my guns. very thin, yet gives a slightly tacky feel.

Handlebar is right. A used tire tube will work. Plus you can add another layer if it is still too small for you. This should work until a better choice is available.

Pictures please?

I did. You can push the sleeve all the way up but the bottom of the trigger guard is rough and just holding it was hurting my middle finger so I slided it down just a bit to clear that unconfortable friction and without the magazine installed, I trimmed it with a new blade using the edge of the grip as a guide so its a perfect fit and not jaggeded. Its worth every penny of the $10.00 I paid for it

I've got one on order. I agree about the stippling on the underside of the trigger guard. I read where one guy polished it smooth. I've been thinking of doing the same thing.

Ordered the Talon Granular stick-on grip deal for my M&P Shield on Friday afternoon, it arrived in the mail Monday. They also have Rubber.

I like it, really adds some extra grip in your hand. My Shield in My hand it just felt a little slippery as produced.

Thank You All for your tip for Talon Grips. I just ordered a set for my M&P SHIELD 9mm. Now i've got another problem. After putting first mag thru and firing the last round as you know the slide locks open. Inserting the second Mag and "trying" to push down the slide stop to slam the barrel forward it takes pressure from 2 fingers. Is there a way to be able to just use your thumb only? When i was making my purchase and trying to release the slide in front of the salesman i noticed this and when brought to his attention he said its because the gun is stiff. Even after taking it all down and oiling where necessary its still hard as h--- to push it down to release the slide.
else have that same problem? You can answer me here or at [email protected]
Thanks.

I am writing this in the upmost polite manner... read the manual. The slide stop is not used to release the slide... only to lock the slide. This has been discussed in several threads here.

I hope that helps.
