Hi,

I like stock hogue bantam grips for being very light, comfortable and they point well, however I really hate how they stick to clothes and how thick they are - notice when carrying iwb.

In the web I found the comparison of 642 with g43 and it was with the grips that look perfect: wooden (means light and not catching clothes), and they seem extremely thin

Could you please help me to identify them (look like pachmayr, but which model)?

I heard pachmayr compac professional rubber is not so sticky and does not catch clothes. What is your experience with them? Maybe someone could also post foto of them from behind to see the thickness? LGS do not have them, so will have to order online

Any other suggestions of light, non-sticky thin grips?

Attached fotoes of grips in question and mine for comparison. Thanks!

Up :) need the reply, once i realised hogues are indeed thick and too griooy i can not unrealise that :)

I believe these are highly modified Pachmayr Renegade smooth grips. I've never seen, and can't find any online like the ones in those pictures. I believe someone cut the enclosed backstrap off, and thinned the panels. Not sure why anyone would go through that much trouble, but that is what it appears to have been done.

If you are open to other options, I would suggest the DeSantis Clip Grip. It is not sticky at all, but rather a hard plastic. I wrapped mine in a piece of Brooks Tactical Agrip, which I use on a lot of my polymer handguns. I buy it by the sheet, make a rough pattern out of paper and then cut it to fit.

Both of my 340s are wearing the Crimson Trace Model 405s.

This model has a very soft air pocket on the upper portion of the back strap that greatly reduces perceived recoil even with full power Magnum ammunition.

The laser provides an aiming aid for situations when it is not possible to bring the sights up to eye level

The laser is also an incredible training tool that will help you learn to control firearm shake through the trigger pull. Seeing that dot dance around the first time is an eye opner for most of us

The nice bonus is that the Manufacturer will send you free batteries once every year. All you have to do is ask for them.

I am not sure about the Pacmyr grip having a "less sticky" feel as compared to the Hogue Bantam grip. The Pacmyr grip you mentioned is a bit larger and close to the same width as the Bantam. In that case, you'll end up with the same problem. As for recoil mitigation, the Pacmyr will probably treat your hand and joints better if you're shooting the .357 mag round out of the 340PD. Unless you stoke it with .38 special (a non +P) or something of less power. Honestly, you're probably not going to find a lighter, and more concealable rubber grip than the Hogue Bantam. The alternative would be perhaps to try a set of wood grips aka "Stocks"). There is a brand called Eagle Grips. They make a grip called the Secret Service Grips for the round butt J Frame. I have used them on my Snub 442 model and they worked excellent for concealed carry in the pocket. Aesthetically, they are tops. I found them fast and easy for grip acquisition. However, with a .357 magnum... it's going to hurt a lot more. Hope that makes sense. I really like the bantam grip. It works dang good, it's lightweight, and it grips extremely well in all weather conditions. The Hogue Bantam grips are the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Hope my two cents helps here.

If you can find some of the older Uncle Mikes Boot grips at a decent price they are perfect in my opinion. They had input from Craig Spegel on design, they are a rubber version of his wood grips, and don't hang up.

The Secret Service grips mentioned above are good grips, but are wood.

Spegel are top notch in wood grips but you usually have a long wait or an outrageous price.

Thank you for replies! Recently found out one local woodcraftsman, who normallycworks with gun stocks, who might help menwith the custom scales, socif agree with him on the price, will hopefully post the result here

No deal with LGS on making grips, so back on the hunt :)
