I've been looking for awhile now for something to use as a spacer for storing or displaying 2-piece stocks. We've all seen the .38 Special case some use, forum member Kurac includes a nice carved block of walnut with his stocks, older Herrett's come with a small felt ring that fits around the screw between the panels, etc., etc., etc. Anyway, I wanted something similar for myself and looked at bulk cork, felt rings, wood blocks and a number of other crafts-type items online but it was either too difficult to find the material in the proper size (roughly .375") or it was too expensive (had no idea cork was so expensive!) but the other day I found the perfect item- old compressed fiber 20 gauge shotshell wads.

They're 3/8" thick, 20 ga. in diameter and are made from vegetable fiber with a wax coating. These things fit perfectly and have a small bit of give and the best part about them is they're dirt cheap- I got about a thousand or so for $20.

I've seen grip spacers discussed here before and figured I'd share this if anyone else happens to be looking for the same.
