Girls Raised in The South.

Neighbors, former students, etc.

I have posted about Bethani before. She is a dedicated bow hunter, and was featured in a Camo magazine ad a few years back. She posted pictures of a very nice mature 9 point buck she shot today. She has taken lots of deer with string and stick, but said this is her best one. I taught Bethani for several years in Gufted and Talented classes, and she is one of my favorite students ever. She is a teacher and athletic trainer now.

I didn't teach Caty Faye, but I did teach her dad. They are neighbors, about half a mile across the field from us. Caty Faye is 14 years old, an accomplished Middle School athlete, and apparently a good hunter. She took a very nice 8 pointer this afternoon. Not her first, I think.

These girls both took their deer on family property, and their families will consume the harvest this winter. Actually, they probably eat 3-4 deer every year.

I love to see these girls carrying on an outdoor tradition their families and neighbors have been loving for generations.

If you consider Kentucky "The South" then my 43-year-old niece is one of the GRITS. She pops at least one and usually 3 deer a season with a Stainless Rugar 243. She has a MA in Music Education, but her calling is in Restaurant & Bar management. She doesn't want to need bouncers, so her restaurants have the occasional drunk that gets her personal escort to the curb.

Southern Girls, all pretty and nice!
Cross her once she'll shoot you twice!

That's our Lydia!

I love to see young women taking up hunting. Hunters are a dying breed and losing that heritage is a shame. Hopefully, both of them will raise more hunters.

BTW both are nice deer especially from Georgia. Deer seem to run a bit smaller in the south than here in the Midwest.

I think bowhunting kills are a true test of their skill !
