What are possible causes of a gritty, scraping sound on pulling back the hammer? The gun has a smooth double action trigger, and the single action seems fine as well. But in a quiet room you can hear this scraping sound, like there's sand in there or something. It is a new gun, not fired yet. I cleaned it, then sprayed some action cleaner in it and then lubed with CLP. It appears to be pulling straight back, but I'm not sure of that.
All my other S&W revolvers are cleaned and treated the same, and none have ever made the sound this one does. Any ideas besides just sending it back to the factory? It is brand new, and although I know how to remove a side plate (and get it back together successfully!), I have only done that on a beater Model 10.
