I know it's the S&W forum but I figured we all have similar taste so it was worth asking. I just came back from the gun shop and they have the GSG MP5 Compact's (classified as a pistol) for $499 should I buy one? It felt really well made in my hands but I've not seen any photos of the internals.

I do own 2 of them a GSG5P and GSG5L.

This is the place where all GSG owners gather.

IMHO, it is well made, take any brand of ammo, fun to shoot and you can accessorized into bankruptcy (waiting for a 110 rounds drum mags).

Glad to hear from another owner! How many rounds have you put through yours, no issues? How's it feed, eject etc.

the GSG 5-PK is the one I'm kicking around. I really like the short pistol. I don't like the fact that if I wanted to add a forward vertical grip or a stock I need a Form 1 submitted to the BATFE for an SBR, so a pistol it will stay!

Thanks!

These are mine. They are fun to shoot. I can't say for sure but I am guessing nearly 1000 rounds total between the two. Had an occasional stovepipe here and there.

However there appears to be some issue with the internal screws coming loose. There are replacement screw sets available that should do the trick. Some people recommend blue loctite but that only delays the inevitable. Judging from some of your other posts you should have no fears opening up the gun and replacing the screws.

No SBR here in MI so I'm stuck without a foregrip as well. I did add a rear swivel. Not seen in the pics of the PK is the claw mount and red dot (can't remember the name but it's not a clone point or cloneotech.)

I've got the gsg5 sd limited... its a cool gun but a pain in the but to clean... just like the real mp5... I bought the gsg as a trainer just like the m&p.. personaly I like the m&p better... but the gsg is a pretty gun and it gets a lot of attention

Panzer,

Great photos and thanks for sharing! That PK is a great looking piece! :) I was actually shocked at how heavy the thing felt when I held it. There are no legal issues having the PK's on a single point sling right? It's only an SBR if it has a stock and vert grip. (I don't get how a vert grip makes it an SBR but I digress).

I have the GSG 5 carbine. It was a real trouble child for awile with a lot of FTF's and FTE's. Seems to be getting better with use and the correct for it ammo. A real pain to clean but what the heck, it is a cool little rifle.

I got one of the early carbines in February '08, outiftted it with a Bushnell Trophy reddot and no other cosmetic mods. However, I did replace the bolt screws, installed a buffer for the bolt lever handle assembly, did a mild trigger job to smooth-out the pull, and filled the stock with a caulk/foam product to add weight and reinforced the the wrist of the stock with epoxy.
Unlike a fair number of others, I have not had the problems with light primer strikes, jams or OOB's, just some occasional feed problems that developed and I cleared those up with light sanding/polishing of the magazine follower tracks and stretching the springs a bit. That's after many 1,000's of rounds.
IMHO, I enjoy the GSG and the M&P 15 equally.

That's what I wanted to hear! I will add the buffer and upgrade the screws for sure. I may even do the airsoft lower retrofit I was reading about (I like the actual Red/White bullet icons) :)

It will probably be a few weeks before I pick one up, need to sell something first but this is on my list!

Yeah the bolt screws was the issue I was talking about. As far as I know the sling has nothing to do with SBR or pistols. In case you didn't notice I added a forward rail to replace the plastic forearm.

After handling the M&P15-22s I went and picked up my GSG-5 to make room on the rack. I forgot just how much weight is the GSG-5.

that little pk would be a great little toy with a threaded barrel and some help from the people at yhm:D.. no barrel length makes for a very quiet toy even with hv ammo
