After spending a fair bit of the last 3 months doing other stuff, including a trip to Colorado to see my sister and her family, I am back to working on instruments again. I today finished a electronics upgrade and setup on a Fender style P bass. This Vangoa bass was originally package deal of some kind that cost around $160 when they came out. I got this one from Goodwill for $80. I stuck another $30 into it replacing the mini potentiometers with full size. Also replaced the output jack for a more robust one. Need to run by the amp tech I know and let him try it. Interested in some feedback on my setup from someone who can play  .

I was really impressed by the build quality on this bass. Looking at both sides of the body and into the electronics cavity I can't find any signs of a join. I think it is a one piece body. The ebony-ish looking fretboard wood looks good and the maple neck is straight and adjusts easy. It should make a nice starter, whether it be for me or some other.

Whoe I can't believe the price. In other guitar stuff, I bought a Fishman amp for the classical guitar that I ordered in January and haven't received yet, so I plugged in my Ibanez strat copy into it, not expecting much from an acoustic amp playing and electric, but if you turn the treble down and the bass up it sounds pretty good, and it has a few good effects built in. Looks like I won't have to get a practice amp for my strat. Now if my guitar will just get here.
