By now many have heard of Jose Canseco shooting his finger off cleaning his gun. I am proposing the following first step in cleaning your guns.

Step 1. Clean the ammo out of the chamber.

Sorry Comrad, I was posting the same time as you. Did not mean to step on your thread. You did post first.

Jose can you see, there's a cartridge in me.

That's happened to me too, great minds must all think alike.

Cheers

Jose said, "There seems to be some kind of problem cleaning this gun but I can't put my finger on it"

You can't idiot proof everything. You can write as many steps as you want and someone will find a way to screw up. That is already the first step but you can't make somebody follw the instructions.

You mean they couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel?

He did that though not in the conventional way we all do!

Maybe that's exactly what he was doing! [emoji38]

Education while ridiculeing could be a core class.

I hear tell the weapon was a rail gun.
Had a bayonet attached and Jose was cleaning his fingernails.
Who knows man, these rich folks usually have this done in a salon.
Lesson learned.
Nyuk-Nyuk hmm wise guy eh?

Show of hands...

How many really believe he was cleaning it when it went off?

Anybody.... Anybody...

Those dang Pistol People are always finding ways to accidentally shoot themselves or others.

When is the last time you read about someone who accidentally shot themselves while cleaning their revolver? :)

1) Rack slide
2) Drop Mag.

I mean, what could go wrong?

:)

Yea,

I think the cleaning phrase is usually just bogus.

The kind of clowns that shoot themselves are not the kind of people who clean guns anyway.

I clean my guns cause I am a gun guy, and I don't shoot

whoops

I'll get back to ya.

All we can say is he just did it all wrong.
Could have been many things, I doubt it was cleaning.
I have had 2 ADs each outside and I know exactly what happened. In both cases the gun was pointed in a safe direction.
1. I was 17 1970 and took the safety off ready to shoot a bunny. Then he stopped moving in the brush.
I put the 12 ga at port arms.
LOOKING hard for him.
He ran , I squeezed >>>>>>>> BOOM!
Felt stupid but all body parts remained in tact.

2. As I was taught in the navy. I cleared my gun after a jam.
[ so I thought ] It is hard to see the chamber on an HK91 now.
After removing my magazine, I retracted the bolt, nothing came out. I pointed it skyward pulled the trigger >>>> BOOM!

Lessons learned, work the action several times before dropping the hammer.

Felt stupid again 1992.

As Paul Harvey used to say....

"And now here's the rest of the story."

CBS Sports

Jose Canseco says he will sell his finger on eBay

He should be charged with a negligent discharge. This was not an accident. Too bad he did not shoot himself. People like this is NOT what we need on our side as gun owners. Besides, who cleans a gun that is loaded? Can someone tell me how you can clean a gun with a round in the chamber? Maybe I have been doing it wrong all these years.
