My wife wanted to go to Fasion Place Mall on the Las Vegas Strip.
Being a devoted husband I drove her knowing I would be wondering around acting like her pack mule.
As we entered the mall, I saw a western store and decided to go in. I found a nice tooled gun rug 15 inches long 8 inches tall at its widest point. The clerk advised the rugs were product of China price $75 so I bought one.

Nice Toyman! Is it leather or something synthetic? What kind of padding does it have?

It does look nice.

I always visualize some Chinese factory working laboring day in and day out making this stuff while he's wondering what the heck the Americans do with these things?

Or do the rank and file know what they are? and what do they think of that?

My wife and I really like nice gun rugs. I think there are only two nylon rugs in our safe and the rest are leather, Cape buffalo, bison, zebra or springbach. I guess I could have bought several really nice guns for what I’ve spent on gun rugs and protected them just as well with nylon or cloth but a nice gun should be in a nice case.

Wow, I LOVE all those gun rugs! Having them made out of exotic leather is very COOL! When I started looking at your pictures, I thought your first rug might have been elephant. I had to look up Springbach, because I wasn’t exactly familiar with it. Now you need one out of gator! Thanks for sharing.

The first one is Cape buffalo. The company offered elephant a few years ago but I’ve not seen any for a while. The company is African Game Industries and they’re reasonably priced for what you get.

I’d like one in ostrich and one in stingray skin. Gator would be cool too.

I was a commercial and documentary photographer for 55 years. I used Leica cameras since my early days and for my 60th birthday, many years ago, my wife gave me a black chrome custom Leica with my signature engraved on it and covered in black ostrich skin. It’s gorgeous!
