I went to a gun show in central TN last weekend and I noticed a man walking around carrying a .50 cal ammo can with the lid removed and the top covered with clear packing tape. I was curious about what he was selling so I had to go over and engage him.

He tells me that he has 10,000 rounds of loose .22LR ammo in the can and he is willing to "let it go" for $2,000. I said, "thanks", but "no thanks" and went on my way.

I can't imagine peeling off 20 Ben Franklins for ammo that I could have paid $350 for last summer.

Hendersonville? I stopped by there on the way back from a baseball game, met a guy in the parking lot, and sold him a rifle. I never went in, however. From the sound of it, I'm glad I went on my way.

I've got 11,000 rounds, still in the Federal milk cartons, and those are still in the cardboard overwraps. I'd be open to selling them for $2000. That's $100 per 550 carton. Sounds like a deal for me.

I agree that there is no way there would be 10,000 rounds in a .50 cal ammo can. I could see maybe 5,000 loose rounds fitting. I have a can that size full of .22 in the packages. Different brands and sized packages including the little 50rd boxes allowed me to squeeze 3,500rds in. There is very little wasted space.

You should at least have paid the admission price since you benefited from the gun show.

If he can carry 10,000 rounds of .22 ammo, plus the 50 cal ammo can, he must be one strong mutha.

Best,
Gary

Just how was he walking around carrying 10,000 rounds of .22 ammo ?
That must be 60 lbs worth .

My friend owns a gun and pawn shop and had a guy come in with 4 bricks of Remintgon 22LR in the Green and red /white box and when asked what he wanted to do with them he said pawn them, and would not accept less than $170 a brick for them. Needless to say my friend is not a fool.

Gun shows are a waste of time and money. You have to pay to get in and once you get in it's too crowded and prices for guns and ammo are too high.

I have i dont know how many of the 550 round federal bulk pack s in the closet. Who wants to trade .22 ammo for a j frame?

Promise we both walk away happy...

I agree I have 2 MTN ammo cans each can has 5,000 rds in 50 rd boxes ,they are full to top.

I skipped the gun show this weekend as seeing the crazy prices just makes me sick. Used to love going and visiting with my friends but they are mostly dead and there are no "deals" at the local shows for at least the last 15 years. Just a bunch of tattooed losers with broken **** for sale at high prices. Enjoyed working on the lawn and it looks better after my attentions.

The Everything but Guns Show in Hendersonville

Thanks to everyone for their replies. Now that I think about it, I too would agree that 10,000 rounds in that ammo would not be possible. Plus the weight would be unbearable to pack around. This guy was average build, so I do believe as has been pointed out that he was trying to "pull a fast one" on somebody. I was disappointed about this show in Hendersonville. It should be called the "Everything but Guns" show. A whole bunch of flea market type junk was in great supply and I do believe there were more knife dealers than gun people. One thing that is hard to figure out is how some of the vendors make enough money in a weekend selling their trinkets and knives at these shows to pay for the 12 tables that they rented at probably more than $50 each. I can't see how some of them make any money?

I scored 300 rds. at Wallyworld 6 of the 50ct boxes of Federal
round nose. Had the wife with me so we each bought 3 apiece.
Total cost with tax $13.94
Can't see buying ammo at Gun shows.
Of course this is the first .22LR i've seen at Wallyworld since
January. We have 2 stores within 12 miles of us and get our
groceries there.
