Went to a small local GS here in east-central Indiana today.
I did'nt have much going on and it was a rainy overcast
day and i got my mowing done before the rain set it.
Looking over a dealers tables who carries alot of older
S&W's and Colts i saw he was buying a very clean looking
HB model 10 with 4" tube. Man it was pretty and clean and
i watched him pay the older gent 325 bucks for it cash.
After their deal was completed, he asked if he could help me
look at anything and i commented on the nice HB mdl 10 he
just picked up. He handed it over for me to peruse and it
was cherry. The dealer then said hang on a minute and i'll
show you something else i just bought. He pulls out an
absolute MINT "Bankers special" in the box.
My jaw about hit the floor as it looked like it just came out
of the Colt factory. What a beautiful snub !!
I gathered my wits and asked him if he had decided what
he was gonna ask for it. He just smiled and said he could'nt
sell it yet ?? I suppose it's probley going into his safe at
home for his personal collection. I did get to hold it and
admire it for a little while though. Just as well, i did'nt have
enough money on me to buy it outright then anyways.
It was a pretty good little show other than that but prices
we're kinda steep on the stuff i like, (as usual).
Saw a 27-2 N prefix Nickel 6" in presentation case with some really nice factory grips and all the goodies. Asking price was
1200 dollars ??? Model 19's we're all 650-700 bucks.

Was he a private dealer (non licensed) Their has been some activity by the ATF as to unlicensed buyers buying and making a quick turn around sale .Kind of like straw purchase. I know of 1 private dealer that received a letter from the ATF to stop or face charges. The other licensed dealers at the shows are now doing his transfers & sails for him gratis. He works the upper 1/2 of our state.

Walter,
No this was a licensed dealer and a genuine good guy.
I've talked with him at shows before.
It was just cool to get to handle a Bankers Special
let alone one in such great shape.

I sometimes set up but I seldom buy for profit. Not saying I'm going to willingly overpay but the gun has to move me or I won't make an offer in the first place.

I saw a dealer back in July at local show that had a .22 bankers special that was for all purposes new. He had it in his show case. was not for sale. I asked again and he said it was his mother's gun and he like to bring it to the shows every now and then. Damn, it was nice.

I found this Colt Courier .22lr at a small Indiana show. Guy had it in his back pocket with the handle sticking out and he gave me a good price so I bought it. Not sure that I've ever seen another one for sale at a local show?

I attended a couple shows Saturday. There were four shows in AZ this weekend. I picked up a pretty nice pre-war M&P 4" circa 1925.

On the price for the M19's, I stopped at a small shop this weekend that had a blued 19-7 4" barrel that had been carried and had some finish loss on the tip of the barrel for $399.00 on consignment. Not in the market for one, but its as Cheap as I have seen one in awhile.
