That is what makes people afraid to do business with internet dealers....
Just curious, what town in MA is this business in?
I live in neighboring VT, and would like to know where he is located??

This is why I only use credit cards. One shady seller is all it takes.

Exactly, credit cards only or no business. Also, if the internet dealer says credit cards add 3% to the price, I tell them to pack sand. Lastly, this is exactly why, and I've said it before, I don't do business with GB GA, eBay, etc., etc., ad nauseum; and I especially avoid internet dealers who don't take credit cards or debit cards...it speaks volumes when you get a business who doesn't take any form of electronic payment...it says they're losers who in all likelihood have had banking troubles with the banks in their area, and they can't set up an account. Lastly, I've been victimized by the good folks at Tyler-T to the tune of $32.00, which thankfully, means nothing to me...they are a prime example of a business practice to avoid: no one answers the phone or e-mail, they do not respond to written requests that ask them to call you, and they do not accept electronic payments....not a whole lot to love, if you ask me.

It appears that you are saying this seller cashed your money order and now must go to the bank to get you a refund. If he accepted and cashed that money order, then to me that is mail fraud. Contact the USPS Postal Inspectors. And good luck to you.

Never send money without the auction being won and the deal locked up.

As it is, you can't post bad feedback for him because you didn't win the auction.

What he said. And let the seller know that you are doing so. Won't hurt to notify BATFE as well. And let the seller know that too. NO dealer wants them crawling up his butt, believe me!

Sounds like you did a person to person transaction, nothing to do with GB so you have no proof or protection/record of transaction.Other than a trip to Mass. it appears you have little recourse.

Thanks for all the input . Its in Orange MA . I will do what ever it takes when I deal I get the stuff out right away and what I say on Monday goes Friday. I still may get it this week I will update .

There was several red flags that should of prevented this deal from ever happening. Me personally I have never had a problem with USPS money orders or certified checks, and in some cases personal checks. I realize that using a CC does cost them an extra 3%, and it was a hassle when I had a gun business as well so I do understand that.

What kind of an auction was it that you couldn't just submit a proxy bid of what you were willing to pay and then wait for the results? If someone else was willing to pay more, so be it. Trying to "short-circuit" the auction procedure sounds like you are going to have to go to a lot of trouble and time getting your money back.

I hate to be Mr. Obvious here but.... You never posted a bid in an ongoing auction, called the seller privately, did a deal with "a voice on the phone". You then sent him money order hoping that with him cashing it, to beat the end of the auction time stamp, he would send it to you?

Really?

First of all, I'm not a business owner...

But why...if a business is set up to accept CC's, then turn around and charge the 3% or what ever for the cost of using the CC's?...Yes I know the CC's charge the business for using their service...Much like Evil Bay, and PayPal does....So why as a business owner, even use CC's in the first place.....

If I do use my CC at least I have better recourse than dealing with some bank, Post Office M/O, or that Pay Pal I mentioned in another thread.

With my CC, I can even go back a couple of months later, contact my CC card issuer, and have the charges reversed, if I don't receive, what I was supposed to, or not receive anything at all.

Cash only...No sales over the internet...period. Then we as customers know where to shop and do our business.:)

Around my neck of the woods, even the grocery stores are allowed to charge for the use of CREDIT cards...(they don't) They do not charge for using a DEBIT card....

And no, I do not like being given the business:mad:

IMO...as the OP of this thread...that was a bad deal from the get go. Doing a hand shake deal, with your fingers crossed on the other hand, just don't cut it.

I've had one deal out of fifteen go south on gunbroker, after that fiasco I got cautious and haven't had a problem since.Any red flags, just walk, there's another one out there.

I would contact the USPS. I did that regarding a part I ordered from a website for my Luger. It took 9 months, but I got the part and it was a nice one.

Strange that the person you are dealing with cashed the MO, I wouldn't have done that if I no longer had the item.

WuzzFuzz - >So why as a business owner, even use CC's in the first place.....

My ex-wife, once upon a time, decided to give her father a birthday present. She did not have any money. WE did not have any extra money. But she had a credit card. And Sears sold a router. If Sears had not accepted a credit card, they would not have made that sale.

That's the reason. Impulse purchases. "I don't have enough now, but I will next month" purchases.

If stores, these days, had to rely on people having cash money in their pockets, to sell something, they would go out of business.

As to the "adding a 3% surcharge for credit cards", my understanding is the credit card company says you can't do that, and if they find a retailer doing that, they will jerk his ability to accept their card.
