Gotta love the idea of a 12.7mm 1911. I'd bet that thing is extremely fun to shoot.
 
It is indeed fun. It's not a wrist twister like a 50AE. Loads are very close to those for the 45acp. One really needs to be a reloader for this since ammo is not readily available. Even the brass is not cheap at 50 cents each from Guncrafters. Still, it's very cool. The grips are ivory and buffalo horn.
 
A friend of mine picked up a used long slide in about 93 or 94 for $50. I don't remember the brand but, it looked like AMT quality. Why so cheap? It was in 50 AE! I have a Desert Eagle 50 AE, It is a puppy compared to the long slide! At least you can use cast bullets. Ivan
