In the early years of Guns & Ammo magazine, the publisher, Robert Petersen, wrote some articles on hunting with the 44 mag. I remember one on a polar bear hunt. I think he did one about a brown bear hunt.

Does anyone know which issues have Petersen's articles?
I'd be interested in ANY articles he wrote about handgun hunting.
THANKS.

Thanks! that is it.
polar bear article looks like July, 65??

it mentions the brownie article as being G&A, Feb. '63
Thanks again.

Does anyone notice that it's OK to shoot a black bear and it's OK to shoot a brown bear-but it's NOT OK to shoot a white bear. can't even shoot a half white bear (Panda). Whatsupwiththat??????? :(
What's so majic about white? Equality dictates that we ought to be able to shoot at least polar bears -Hell I wouldn't mind whapping a Panda-that would make a WAYYYYYYYYYYY cool mount. But I digress :D

It's because polar bears are almost extinct. Don't you listen to algore?? ;)

"It's because polar bears are almost extinct."

The reason is the Native Alaskans are moving to town thus not remaining as a suplimental food source for them. PLEASE SEND MORE TOURISTS! The poor bears need 'em for survival.

But wait a minute...... Why does extinction matter? With all the global warming they won't have a place to live in a few years anyway?!?!?! :)

I would love the opportunity to hunt a white bear with a bow. That would be the ultimate bear hunt for me.

Max, with all the issues from '71, you have quite a good collection! One day when you're browsing thru the old issues, I recall a back page article written from the viewpoint of a loyal family dog that had been dumped on the side of the road. I recall it brought tears to my eyes every time I read it. I'm sure it was during the 70's time frame. It's good, sad reading, Thank you !
