Guns in the Shower

I don't remember what magazine I saw it in, but there was an article discussing your vulnerability while on 'the throne', the inadvisability of putting your gun on the top of the TP dispenser, and a number of different shooting 'stances' to take care of business while you, well, took care of business.

Seemed a little surreal. Part of defence training is situational awareness, and if you feel the need these types of measures during your morning routine, you're probably in the wrong neighbourhood.

Why wouldn't you have a gun in the bathroom? If you are in the shower and there is a home invasion, wouldn't you want access to a gun right then? Mine is laying beside the sink when I'm in the shower.

O2Guy has it right.

How many of y'all have a gun at the head of the bed, or on the nightstand, or under a pillow?

That's so if someone kicks in your front door, and jerks you up out of a sound sleep, you have a gun available, right? Is there really a lot of difference between sleeping in the bedroom and sitting on the throne in the reading room, when someone kicks in your front door?

My daughter told me, once, that when her husband was out of town on business, she'd take her gun in the bathroom with her. She was responsible for her safety and her daughters'.

Me - I don't have to take one in the bathroom with me. One lives there. Stainless steel, naturally.

I forgot about carrying in the shower. I may have to rethink turning down one of those $50 Glocks. They just might be a decent shower gun.

can't think of their names right now.. but recently, a former CNN talking head & her husband were at a motel... the husband, a retired Special Forces trooper, was in the shower... when his wife answered the door & an armed thug forced his way into their room... she screamed & the husband came up with a pistol, got into a gunfight with and killed the intruder............the husband was also seriously wounded... but I'm sure they are both alive because of the husband's training, his staying armed & aware no matter what he was doing.

You should read the actual news story

I know this is thread drift but its a neat story. My cousin was in S.F. in Nam. His team was on a recon patrol, laying dog over an afternoon. My cousin was suffering from dysentery. When he had the urge, he sneaked into the brush to relieve himself. Being a FNG, he had dug a cat hole and kept returning to it each time. On his third trip, he was squatting in the appropriate position to relieve himself when Charles miraculously appeared in front of him and pulled the trigger on his AK. The weapon misfired, my cousin fell into his own mess but did manage to pull the trigger on his M-16 and killed Charles. After that episode, my cousin changed his standard procedure for answering the call of nature.
