Then tried moving our gun show to the Horse Park. Yes, we live in Kentucky and we have a Horse Park. Really nice facility, not new, but not old and not trashed by vandals or thugs so it looks new. Easy to get to, nice place with a presentable food vendor. Not cheap, but not expensive for what they provide. Lots of side entertainment to boot (girls riding horses and wandering around wearing tight riding clothes.) Almost all slim and trim, apparently the horses protest excess tonnage. We get in trouble for that, horses need not bother with PC stuff.

Basically the same vendors as we had 3 weeks ago in Lexington with a smattering of new ones. The customers were a lot of old friends, just meeting in a nice facility. One of our group did sell a gun. Not me, I jacked the prices way up so no one bothered. I made some cracks in the plaster. I reduced my price on some bulk 22s to $40 a brick and sold them really fast. This show was made better by some of the new vendors. One guy a couple of tables away was selling his home made fire starter. He put on a pretty impressive display.

One regular had a 16-4 that Ben wanted to buy. It looked like a really nice gun and even had the finger groove grips with nice grain pattern. It was sitting at $1200, but I'm pretty sure it could be had cheaper.

Before we left Joe and I went over and thanked the promoter and made a special point about the food. When something is right, they need to hear about it. We ended by saying we'd like to come back. Its only maybe 15 miles from Rupp Arena but it has a lot going for it. Primarily the absence of crazy B ball fans mobbing the place. And good, close in parking.

I too had a good time at the show.

It was a smaller show than the Rupp shows, but the venue was a lot nicer in many ways. The only downside was having to pay for parking.

As Dick mentioned, I did spend a lot of time drooling over a 16-4. I've been wanting one for a 327 Magnum conversion, although I hate to take a $1200 gun and spend another $100 turning it into an $800 gun.

Dick hurt me bad for a set of of gold medallion round butt grips that weren't even right for my 1899 model, although they are a couple of beautiful pieces of wood. I ended up buying a set of hard rubber grips toward the end, and am going to have to find a gun to put the gold medallions on.

One regular dealer had a 27-2 at a decent price that he was trying awfully hard to sell, but it was a 6" and I'm looking for a 5". He offered to take a hacksaw to it for me :)

I also bought a watch-a really nice 1899 model Waltham Crescent St that should do well on Ebay.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable show for me.

It's been a while since you reported finding any Heisers. Of course it's been a while since I found any at a show.

I brought along the stuff to make his worn old Heiser look like a new one. He dutifully worked it over until it looks great. I even brought him a rag to buff it out.

I haven't seen a good Heiser for a S&W in a while now. Never doubt that I'm looking. And just to cheer me up, I took out the gun rug from last year. I even considered hauling it along, except those boys might become damaged in the presence of such a work of art.

I keep alternating between sorrow that such a great manufacturer is gone forever and realizing his masterpieces do live on.

it worked out great for me,wife did horse stuff at the driving show and i got to do gun show at the same place, just wish it was a bigger show, maybe next time.and one of these days im going to try to introduce myself to mr rburg

I'm not Mr., just Dick. And ask Lee, I don't really exist. Just the guy they pay to act like a jerk. We were over in the corner, beside the guy trying to sell sweat socks.

I have become greatly soured in the last few years with the quality of our local gun shows. Place where they are now held is smaller than the other two, tables so close you have trouble walking through the aisles, always some idiot having a conversation with someone else blocking the asiles, Same overpriced junk, very few nnew items, and of course the stungun crown. plus in the back of the building you walk through a large hallway with dealers tables, and when you get to the back end and thats were the ammo guys have their stuff setup. Plus parking is so bad they have people with radios to show you were to park. Frank
