This has become a really good small show. We get a table but we really don't have anything much to sell. It just gives us a base of operations and a place to sit and talk. We see a lot of walk in guns, but in all fairness my partner and I aren't buying much. Its got to be great.
So I took a walk around the room and was pleased. One vendor, and I assume at the least he reads here, had a nice display of quality guns. Yesterday he sold a non RM. Today he had 3 guns of note. A 38-44 Outdoorsman, a K22 Outdoorsman, and a 2nd model Masterpiece. His prices were on the high side but still fair. Another of our people picked off the K22 Outdoorsman. It was a nice gun. Toward the front of that same aisle a guy had an M&P Target with a 609,000s serial. Presentable condition for $500. It had some warts, but for that price someone could have scored a real deal.
Lots of knives, but none of any real note, or that I would want. It looks to me like the backyard shop guys are turning out some pretty nice stuff. All too big to be of much use. Lots of ammo for a change. I think the election outcome has softened demand and made the sellers become much more reasonable. I did buy some light sticks for the grand kids. All with a lot of code left on them. They won't last that long.
The guy with the table next to us was selling shooting sticks. He had a nice display and a good sales routine. One guy with 2 nice looking daughters kept coming back. They finally bought 3 of them. Somebody was doing some business.
Something going on I don't like. Across from us is an ammo seller. Nothing wrong with that, except he buys ammo from people walking in. A couple of shows ago he bought reloads from a guy and put them right down on his table with what I assume are new boxes. When I tried to point it out to him, he got hot and said there's nothing wrong with reselling ammo. He's right when you're dead certain its never been fired. The stuff I saw was clearly reloads. I hope the reloader was careful and nothing bad happened.
Oh, and the guy who sold me the log cabin mallet a while back had a new item this cycle. He called it a horse anchor. Its just a 35# cast iron disk, kind of like a frying pan upside down. He said they were used with horse and buggy guys. They put it in the buggy and then when they wanted to stop, the horse was tied off to it. The hopeful seller said he about got a hernia bringing it in the building.
