I think they have a cut off where they won't work on anthing older than a certain year.. I wish I could remember exactly what it is, but I bet a post 1960 M39 is something they'll not likely touch.
What type of work are you looking to have done... repair, tuning, restoration? There are some good choice for each. Give us an idea.
I called S&W's customer service yesterday to inquire about service on my 1970 production 39-2. The gun has a slight hang up just prior to returning to battery.
The gentleman I spoke with, Paul, requested the serial number, checked, and advised they still have parts and will work on my gun. He did not mention their ability to service older model 39's and I did not ask.
He did state that they do not provide refinishing services for these older guns.
