I recall with great sadness reading about the stroke of David R. Chicoine in 2014 and the fire that destroyed his son's home. I have not heard of anything since as to how David Sr. is doing; if David Jr. has recovered and perhaps restarted his father's business. I am in search of someone as knowledgeable that can do some work for me on my 1862 S&W Army Model No. 2. Thanks in advance.

What type of work are you seeking ? Most Model 2 Armies do not have the value that would warrant the cost of a gunsmith to repair them, plus parts are not easy to come by. If money is no object then several places like Turnbulls, Fords, etc. can do the work. The guns are not that complicated that simple repairs and replacing parts can easily be DIY jobs, if you can locate a junker to salvage parts. Ed.

I have not heard any update to the story either but based on the way it ended, I would doubt that Jr. is back in the business. The last I heard, efforts were being made to get unfinished firearms back to their original owners but apparently the deposits that were being held are gone.

It is truly a sad story for all concerned and one that I am grateful that I was not on either side of.
