H.R. 3830

If I read the bill correctly, the $100 tax on each firearm would be to establish a mental health counseling trust fund. I find that interesting. Does taxing each firearm $100 "infringe" on the right to keep and bear arms? Using this logic knives could be similarly taxed(?).

The "passive Identification" is defined in the proposal: (A)enables a firearm to be identified by a mobile or fixed reading device; and, (B)does not emit or broadcast an electronic signal or other information that would enable the firearm or its owner to be monitored or tracked.

It would be unlawful to manufacture a firearm that does not have a passive identification capability with a $1000 penalty if violated.

The bill also contains a provision for a $10,000 penalty for not reporting a stolen firearm.

Do "they" have any idea how many different "taxes" are already collected on all firearms, ammunition, and other sports equipment?

I'm guessing the correct answer is NO, that haven't got a clue!!

Just ignorant, knee-jerk, reactions by the wrong people!

I read the bill.

Some are proposing a $100 firearms tax(to start) and something called " a passive firearm ID" device.

It's for the children.

Simply put, just tax and regulate guns out of existence now, only 14 months left before the "unwashed masses" have any chance to resist. I have trouble remembering all details of everything I read, especially numbers, but firearms and people are close to even. (Somebody help with the math, make me feel better, please). And remember, "they", and all the other worms, like wallowing in the dirt and depend on the "sheep" and such to feed them. I think that most people have grown tired of this and all the other handouts and will vote accordingly. I am even allowed to and will.

1) Guns are expensive enough as is.
2) Any "passive ID device" will likely be as easy to defeat as a serial # is to being ground off.
3) Anyone NOT reporting a stolen gun probably doesn't have that gun legally to begin with, so of course they're not going to confess to a felony when their "piece" gets stolen.

I don't recall the 2nd Amendment saying that gun ownership should 'cost' or 'require' anything (except the initial cost of buying the gun). They only started using serial #s this century and from my point of view, (LEO) serial #s are great for tracking stolen firearms and removing a serial # is automatically a Federal Offense

H.R. 3830 needs to be defeated before "they" get another foothold onto our rights.

Interestingly, the courts have already ruled definitively in regard to those possessing firearms unlawfully, to wit: they cannot be prosecuted for violating gun registration laws because that would amount to a violation of their Constitutional right against self-incrimination (5th Amendment). So, assuming this new resolution were to become law it would apply only to lawful gun owners, period.
