all three cars and my trailer are covered in pock marks.Windshield shattered in nine places. The damage around the area is amazing.Went to Safeway and their roof failed.Flooded with arcing wires hanging down. Its a bad one!

Not "liking" that that damage occurred just acknowledging and showing support. Wow! That really stinks. I am sorry. I am lucky I have only seen pea sized. Cannot even imagine that big! Hopefully, nobody got hurt.

Arjay--I was caught out on a John Deere 4020 while pulling a harrow in a hail storm like that 40 years ago. My truck and the nearest shed, tree, or cover of any kind was a mile or two away. I had no choice but to shut down and get under the tractor. Horrifying experience. I can't imagine being under an artillery barrage, that was the closest thing I can imagine to the experience.

I am glad you are safe and ok--all the stuff can be replaced--that's why you buy insurance (hopefully)!

There was an interesting program about weather last week on one of the channels. To make a long story short, hailstones are far more damaging than if they were made of ordinary ice. Hailstones are made up of many layers of ice as they travel up and down in the atmosphere until they fall. Due to its multi-layered structure, hail is much more resistant to fracture than plain ice, so they do not break up easily upon impact with a hard surface.

Arjay, that brings back memories of the July 29 2016 storm we had in Colorado Springs, lost 3 cars, roof on the house 3 basement Windows.
The hail stones were the size of hockey pucks.

Had one like this around 1990 that trashed my truck.I was just finishing up an addition and it broke all of the skylights and destroyed the metal siding and roof on the guys house. He was in Germany at the time, thank god.The stress would have killed the poor guy!

Dang, RJ! That's some nasty stuff. People could get killed by hail that size. Does your local ER fill up when it hails like that?
