Halloween in Paw Paw West Virginia

Thoroughly enjoyed your video snubby. Reminds me of how it was when I was a kid. Candy bars were a lot bigger and so were my dentist bills for mom and dad. looks ya all had a great time.

Looks like a really nice neighborhood -like your front porch, too, Snubby. Am wondering how your wife is getting along after your accident the other day -she didn't seem too worse for wear in the video. Also, do you happen to have any ceremonial tribal outfits that you could have worn, or would they not have been appropriate on Halloween anyway?

Nice video. Takes many of us small town folks back in time.

Snubby, you have to explain the Whipping post and woodshed. I went to wikipedia and looked up Paw Paw. Point 53 sq mile? (.53). Thats 320 acres.

My paternal grandfather was originally from the West Liberty, Ky area, pretty far from you but he loved the Paw PAws. He moved to Iowa and bought a farm around 1900. My maternal grandfathers farm in MO had lots of Paw Paws. When they were ripe Dad and I would pick a bunch to take with us to Iowa. Dad locked them in the car trunk to keep me out of them.

Amazing what a word like paw paw can do to bring up old memories.

That's great Snubby! You guys have more trick or treaters in your small town than I've seen in at least 20 years.

She is doing better. Her knee's still a bit wonky and her ribs are still healing but she's getting better.
I'm Blackfoot by blood. Never been to any tribal functions. I just know some words, phrases and stories my Dad and Uncle Roy told me when I was a youngster.

That was just the first forty minutes. It went for another hour and twenty minutes.
There are houses dotting the surrounding mountains. They come from miles away to trick or treat our town.

Nice Halloween video, Snubby!! Thanks dor sharing with us. Glad that you and Mrs. Snubby settled here in "West, By God, Virginia". And for any non West Virginians out there, that is not taking the Lord's name in vain, it is our belief in how our stae was created!!!
It's beautiful out here. Best move we ever made.

The only disappointment I have was I had imagined you lived in a two-storey log cabin in the middle of nowhere. :D Just kidding. Looks like all had fun.

Sabrina sent me a few pictures of her dressed as the Straw woman.:D sinse she is still with her dad in Houston, she was elected to pass the goodies out. :D Not sure if her dad dressed up or not? I did here, as myself.:p

So what kind of candy were you passing out? I haven't tasted any for months now.

Reminds me of where I grew up at minus folks carrying long arms.

Mostly Butterfingers and Tootsie roll pops.
