Halloween: Spook Movie guns

Hello all,

Well, it's that time of year again. Your children go trick or treating, ghost stories around the campfire, jack o lanterns and of course horror movies and television.

That being said, most good horror movies have plenty of gun co-stars carried by victims and heros alike. Said guns, usually, aren't effective or as effective as they would be against normal people. But they do make an impression. Loud powerful bangs or massive sprays that have little to no effect against the monster.

So...how about y'all talk about your favorite appearance?

Historic note: The first handgun to appear in a horror movie was 1935 Bride of Frankenstein from Universal Studios. A prison guard shoots the Monster in the heart several times as he is attempting to escape from his chains with a S&W Military & Police 4 inch .38

If we credit King Kong as a monster movie, several Colt revolvers are shown. It was from 1933. But numerous horror films were made in the silent era, many lost. I am not sure anyone knows what firearms first mafe their appearance.

My personal favorite is the fictional "boomstick", a Remington double 12 gauge said to be made in Grand Rapids, MI as an S-mart special. There is of course no Remington plant in GR. It featured most prominently in Army of Darkness. Unusual for a horror movie gun, it worked quite well.

Runner up is the minigun used by Jesse "I ain't got time to bleed" Ventura in Predator. A film notable for featuring two future governors, three if Carl Weathers ever enters politics...

I'd go with GrindHouse / Planet Terror. Everything from Mod. 10, SAA, Python and Security Six and that's just the revolvers.

Too much to mention but the kicker was the Bushmaster / grenade (flare?) launcher with bayonet prosthetic leg on Rose McGowan.

Picture I posted disappeared overnight, guess it was deemed unsuitable.
I thought it was pretty cool. Different strokes are OK.

I'd completely forgotten about that one... she did seem to be quite adept with it.

I bought one from a guy who was selling them out of the back of his van. It wouldn't heat water for tea, but it was hell on poltergeists. Haven't seen one since I bought it. Didn't before either, but you can't be too careful.
