Hi,
I have had a trouble with my hammer nose bushing in my 44 Mag. Mod 29.
It was lightly indented, so after each shot the spent primer was leaked hitting that side so that cylinder was blocked.

I took out the hammer nose bushing, and when I replaced it again, I don't remember if the groove was supposed to go below or above.

Thanks.

Yeah, hard to tell. Clean the debris away and take another photo.

What's the tiny V spring to the right of the bushing in the hammer channel?

Wilco...but the problem is not the spring as well as that you have shown. The question is the correct positioning of the hammer nose bushing that I have shown on the first picture all above. The groove must be on top or bottom?

Hello docpilot and others,

I have read in several posts that you would need special tooling or/and should hand this work over to a gun smith
Whats the case in the M29 - special tools/gun smith necessary or "simple" proper home equipment sufficient?

Any progress on ordering a replacement part from the US or withing Europe?

Regarding your question - Its difficult to see on mine as well, but seems to be on top
AND
from a technical point of view, only top would make sense
If you think of the rotating movement of the hammer, a plain cylindrical hole would make the hammer hit the top part first before being in final position

EDIT:
Ups, found your answer in your other post and will just put it here - Thanks anyways, will help me to deal with my revolver :D
