ISO Info on replacing a missing hammer stud on a pre-36.
1. Is it possible? Yes - you will need a competent (real old school) Gunsmith. NOT just a "parts replacer"
2. Cost? Today's prices are off the chart. I do not know exactly, but probably in the $300 - $350 range
3. Who can do it? An old school Gun Smith who is not afraid to use his brain and skills
4. If S&W factory is an option, is it a warranty item on a frame that age? No warranty on a gun that old. S&W (if they will even work on a gun that old) will want to refinish the gun after the new stud is installed. Their Gun Smiths no longer have the skills to do this job without a refinish plus it would cost way too much.
