Hand Guard Removal?

Hello everyone! I'm a noob to my new 15-22 so please bear with me. Can anyone tell me how to remove the hand guard on the 15-22? It was filthy out of ther box and I want to remove it so I can clean the barrel under it. Thanks! Please help

For the mechanicly challenged, just buy the right tool for the job. It is very nice to take the rifle all the way down for a thorough cleaning. 22 ammo is filthy. Be sure to torque the barrel nut good and tight. Can anybody verify what the torque spec is for the barrel nut?
