Hello everyone, this is my first post here.
About a year ago I bought A Smith and Wesson M&P 15 MOE Mid
M&P(R)15 MOE(R) Mid | Smith & Wesson

And recently I wanted to upgrade its Handguard to something else, due to how much heat that Magpul one retains.
I bought Midwest Industries AR-15 M-Series Two Piece Drop In Mid-Length M-LOK Compatible Hand Guard 6061 Aluminum Hard Coat Anodized Matte Black - MI18M - 816537019626

And as of today have now realized that it does not fit the end cap of the MOE. It needs a circular and the M&P seems to have something different, or I am literally and idiot. Is it a triangle?

I do hope it turns out I am being an idiot here and these handguards do fit, but I have concluded they do not and thus am looking for some kind of mid length m-lok style handguard that will fit.

Most mid-length gas systems come with a triangle end cap.

The Magpul Mid-length Moe SL requires a round one. I'm not sure if yours requires a round end cap. Maybe contact Midwest Industries and ask. You can do so here.

If you do need a round end cap you will have to swap it out. It isn't that difficult if you have some mechanical aptitude. You will need some tools to do it properly and safely. If you watch videos and read about it first you can do it in about 30 minutes.

-Tools Needed-
Upper vice block
Armors wrench or regular 3/4 inch (19mm) wrench
round end cap (0.750 inch Diameter)
crush washer
roll pin punch
flat pin punch
brass hammer

-remove hand guard
-remove flash hider
-pound out front sight post gas tube pin
-Pound out the front sight pins. (this is the most difficult part, but -read up on it. took me five minutes)
-slide off front sight
-slide off triangle end cap
-slide on round end cap and line up gas tube
-slide front sight back on
-install front sight pins, gas tube pin
-install new crush washer and flash hider
-drop in your hand guard

Ammoland has a nice write up on removing the front sight.

Thank you for the reply,
I do not have any of the tools to try to change out the end cap and there is no armorer in my city I have found, so I will probably return this handguard and look for another drop in that will properly fit.
If you have a suggestion I will gladly take it.

3rd edit:
Seems I have been very confused and I blame the lack of sleep.
Quote from their FAQ
"Q: My mid-length/rifle length drop in hand guard doesn’t fit my upper.
A: Mid-length and rifle length drop in hand guards are designed to work with triangle hand guard caps. Make sure your mid-length/rifle length upper has a triangle hand guard cap to allow the hand guard to be installed. A carbine uses a round hand guard cap."

Here is an image of my end cap.
Just want to confirm that that is a circular one.
