Smith is so backed up with warranty work that I'd be reluctant to ask them to do anything i wasn't willing to wait 8-12 months for.

I sent in my 1980 686 no dash for a forcing cone re-cut and cylinder gap tweak. My 686 was loose and worn out. For $117 they fixed my 686 and polished it and also replaced internal parts. They re-cut the barrel threads. It's better than brand new. I could not be happier. Shoots better than ever. Took seven weeks but I've owned it for 33 years. I'm very happy with the Custom shop. I'll never let anyone but S&W work on my revolver.

the only smiths I own are PC guns and like the above poster said, would never let anyone but them work on them. not to say people don't have the skill, but I just would not.

Had several well used guns "rehabbed" at the Factory. They all came back like new. Better than new because they are the older versions.

I have a 2" M10 at the Factory now. Been over 4 months and haven't heard a peep. Rumor is that the wait is about 8 months. I'm waiting patiently.
