Has anyone seen a 629 with a full-underlug 4" barrel?

I've been looking for several months for a Smith & Wesson 629 with a 4" barrel that has a full underlug.
I've found the 2.5" Backpacker model with a full underlug. I kind of like that but the barrel isn't long enough to be a legal hunting gun here in Indiana.
I've found 5" guns with a full underlug and I kind of like those and may end up going that direction.
I recently found a Performance Center 4.25" gun with a compensator on the end. That gun would be great but I don't want to spend that much on a gun that I'm just going to pack around during deer season. The compensator extension also makes the gun to be about as long as a 5" gun. I'm just looking for a regular 4" gun but I'd like the extra weight of the full underlug.
I'd appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Smith and Wesson did not make a 4" 629 with the full underlug.

But I did.

That is exactly what I want. You don't want to trade for a S&W 686 CS-1 4" do you? I'd probably even be willing to throw in a little cash. I understand if you want to keep it, especially since you made it as a custom gun.
I'll probably end up going with a 5" guns since S&W never made the gun I want. If I hadn't had bad luck with Tauruses in the past, I'd think about their 4" full underlug gun but I'm afraid to ever own another Taurus.

IMHO there is nothing wrong with the regular 4"er.
Everyone in here knows I love 'em.
Get it MagNaPorted if the muzzle rise is too much.
Or get a 6". If it's just for hunting a 6" is not too bulky.
I would not hunt with a 4" but that's just me.
I use a 7.5" Redhawk for serious stalking.
I hit what I shoot at and it stays dead.
The 4" is best for close encounters.
Sounds like the 5" Classic is the best fit to your requirements.
If I got one I might be tempted to remove the underlug :)

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'm going to try to find a good used 5" 629.
I have a Performance Center 7.5" Light Hunter but it's too long for a belt holster when I'm seated in my truck or leaned against a tree in an improvised ground blind.
I used to have a 6" Classic that I really liked but I gave it to my son because he requested that gun as an 18th birthday present.
I wanted a 4" will a full underlug because I like the look and I like the extra weight near the muzzle. I think I'll try out the 5" and hopefully it will ride like I want.
Thanks Again

I'm gonna need ya in the upcomming ZOMBIE apocalypse.

I plan on being there. Been tooling up for 30 years ;)

Several 44 carbines, 444 Marlin, some handguns, and
a few 12 ga. shotguns. Couple other guns that would only
annoy a zombie (or a bear).

Looking for some leather for the chainsaw.

Colt Anaconda-4 inch full underlug.

I don't have anything against Colts except that I like to have all my guns grouped into "families" that function similarly.
Years ago when I was still an active police officer, I was using a Remington 11-87 for deer hunting. Right after deer season, I was at work and had to use my Remington 870 to put down a deer that had been hit by a car. After the shot, the deer was still just standing there so I was gonna' shoot it again but the gun wouldn't fire; because I had forgotten to rack the action because I had gotten used to my 11-87 doing it for me. After that, I sold my 11-87 and started carrying only guns that functioned alike. Almost all my semi-auto pistols are Sigs except for a few 1911s. All my shotguns are Remington 870s, etc.
Since the Colt opens differently than the S&Ws that I'm used to, it wouldn't interest me.
I also carry my self-defense weapons in the same spot on my body all the time because of a time when I needed my gun at a run and I was in plain-clothes wearing a shoulder holster. There was a very short moment of panic before I remembered where my gun was. I'm a big believer in muscle memory.
I guess I've gotten to the age where I know what I want and nothing else will make me happy. Thanks for the suggestion though and I apologize for the too-lengthy reply.

I have a 629-2 with the non-fluted cylinder that has the full lug under the barrel.........but it has a 6 inch barrel. Put a 2X Simmons silver scope on it and use it to deer hunt with.

Yes. I saw one once that Hamilton Bowen had just finished up and I thought it might be a pretty nice combination. I am not big on short-barreled 44s, though I would certainly like to have one of those just to horse around with. :)

Truthfully, I am not sure what it would do that the standard guns wouldn't. It might soak up some recoil, but most of us can manage the 4-incher as it is. If you were going on an extended shooting rampage with full-charge 44s, it would definitely be handy, but I think I would choose a longer barrel for that activity.

It might tend to be a little more accurate than the standard gun in most peoples' hands, just as the standard gun can be more accurate than the Mountain Gun for most. Again, a longer barrel would suffice there, too.

Amen Bro. In a pinch you don't think, you do.
I have used revolvers all my life. Someone made me carry a 1911
I would probably be screwed when the chips were down.
Carrying a 624 I have shot MANY thousands of rounds out of
gives me the peace of mind I know will carry me through a
potential bad scenario.

And thanks for your service officer!

Nice job on the 4" full underlug. That turns out looking like a perfect barrel lenght balance to frame size IMHO. I wanted the full underlug so settled on the 629 5" but a 4" would have been the cats meow.
