I found myself wondering what the Israeli soldiers were wearing on their heads.

Google research told me it was to break up the helmet outline.

Any other armies adopting this?

Camo

The round shape of a helmet is not natural, so it can draw the eye to it. The US Army used to teach putting burlap strips on the k-pot to break up the pattern. If I recall, some of the Light Infantry divisions even had SOPs on how to attach the camo to the helmet.

I tried to find pictures, but all I could find was an old steel pot. The idea is the same. Google images is full of pictures of ACU pattern motorcycle helmets, MARPAT football helmets, multicam welders helmets, etc, etc, etc.
