Hawaii going Shall Issue?

Right on! Now if Peruta stands I want to see the elitist powers that be in the urban CA counties start to crumble on this issue!!

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I left in 1993 and
moved to Las Vegas, NV. Better gun laws here. There are a
lot of hoops you have to crawl through just to get a permit to
acquire a hand gun. I can't imagine how difficult the liberal
establishment will make it in order to get your CCW. We'll see.

Aloha,

Once Hawaii gets past the obstructionisms of local PD and AG and actually start issuing CCWs,

Hawaii will have the distinction of being the only state with NO RESTRICTIONS about where NOT to carry.
Government buildings Always have been restricted.

As I've been told, there are NO LAWS, Rules or Regulations about where CCW is Legal or Illegal.

Except for malls and private businesses I have Not seen No Guns (weapons) signs.

It is too late now for the State Legislature to pass such bills.

These laws will have to wail until next session to be introduced.

So, if CCWs are issued and there are no problems, it will be interesting to see if such legislation can pass.

I think this has caught the anti 2A crowd totally off guard.

Grew up on Oahu, moved here to Oregon in '97. Miss a lot of things about Hawaii, but it was far from what you call a "free state."

I really never thought the day would come, but I really, really hope that the ruling will stand. Recognition of the rights enumerated in the Constitution has been long overdue.

Actually, California has no restrictions that I know of. Sheriffs were allowed (and did) stamp their own restrictions on the back, but most of the places other states have restrictions (Capitol, government buildings, churches, schools) are not off limits to a CA CCW holder.

For instance, if you look up the CA law against carrying in the Capitol Building, you'll see something to the effect of (paraphrasing)"the above restriction shall not apply to LEO, On-Duty Military, holders of a permit pursuant to [CA CCW]..."

I have to laugh. I have a brother who lives in Kaaawa, on the
northeast side of Oahu. He's a flaming liberal. He was complain-
ing to me about all the hoops he has to jump through to get
a permit to acquire a handgun. I told that Lolo (stupid) that's
what you get when you elect liberals to run things. They are
anti-gun. Hello!

But, he's Ohana (family), so you just chuckle to your self. May-
be he'll wake up some day. As for me, I have 3 gun safes and
a CCW. :)

Aloha,

OK, I stand corrected.

Goes to show how out of touch I am sometimes.

As far as When CCW will be issued will have to be seen how much foot dragging and obstructions the PD and AG can produce.

Thus far the Anti 2A crowd has not said anything.

Doesn't mean that they aren't plotting how Not to comply.

Hey YogiBear:

Just watch....when the CCW law passes, there will be lots of
restrictions on where you can carry. I wonder how residents
will conceal with the weather being so hot and humid and all?
Maybe fanny pack (dead giveaway) or IWB. Summer time going
to be challenging time to conceal carry. I would invest in lots
of Reyn Spooner aloha shirts!

Aloha nui loa.

Aloha,

Reyn Spooners are too conservative and too business like.

I have Lots of very Loud oversize Aloha shirts.

My problem is keeping my elastic waist band shorts up.

A lot of people carry all sizes of fanny packs.

Wife and I carry matching murses by Pac-Safe

Metrosafe 250 Anti Theft Messenger Bag

Large enough for an iPad.

I have not seen anyone carrying any "tactical' bags.

Since there are a lot of tourists and locals carrying fanny packs and messenger type bags, CCW shouldn't be that obvious.

Most local guys wear extra large baggy Aloha shirts, tank tops or t shirts.

Most local guys wear elastic banded shorts. Mainlanders and tourists wear
shorts with belts.

I've been known to wear suspenders under my Aloha shirts on occasion.
Only because I have more belly than hips to keep the shorts up.

It is too late Now for the legislature to make laws on where not to carry.

It will have to wait until next session for that.

Technically, I believe Hawaii already is a "May Issue" state. However, all county sheriffs have collectively stated that there is no way they will ever issue a permit to anyone for any reason...ever. If they go "Shall Issue" and turn the bureaucracy over to the counties I wonder if things would get much better.
