Browsing thru HD this AM, and my wife spotted this sale. DeWalt sliding compound miter saw, 12”, 15A, 3800rpm, and a DeWalt rolling saw stand for $399.99. Like a good M39, I couldn’t pass this one up, since I was looking for a new miter saw.
My wife gets Christmas credit for this one,:)

I used my DeWalt Compoud Mitre Saw for years as a carpenter. Sturdy and accurate. Plus always visible with the screaming yellow color! I even cut kindling with it to size. LOL Very good saws.

I own the regular DeWalt saw in the non sliding version. Mine is 12 years old and has performed perfectly over the years. While I am not about to upgrade at this time, I should have gotten the sliding version but didn't think I needed it when I bought it. 95% of the time I don't but the 5% of the time I do I wish I had it.

The saw is a Workhorse and it is quite powerful. I think you will be quite happy - so use it safely!

DeWalt makes very good power-tools (I have a bunch) however I still prefer the Milwaukee Drills (corded ones at least).

BTW, once you wear out the original blade (not really a great one) get yourself a Diablo blade by Freud, in a Carbide 80 or 100 tooth count. They last a loooongn time! I believe mine is 100 teeth and I believe it's 8 - 9 years old. Since I also use it to cut Aluminum I can attest that it is a good quality blade! Most of what I cut needs to be very smooth - hence the high tooth count. If you are doing more rough cuts, 80 teeth or slightly less is more than enough.
