Headed to Sacramento, any good old gun shops I should visit? Will be hitting a couple in the Placerville area but would like to venture down the hill a bit while I am there visiting for the holiday.

J&G Guns off Douglas which is off Highway 80 just east of Sac. is probably the best. It's a purely consignment store PACKED with guns. And they are all used. Tons of Colts. Quite a few Smiths, and everything else you can think of. Prices run the range from pretty good to outragous. I bought a Colt Bisley there for $500 because it hada slight bulge in the barrel and a broken $2 trigger and bolt spring. Right next to it another guy has one priced at $3200. And I don't believe there's a AR-15 or AK47 on the premises. Mostly old stuff.
Here's my Bisley. I had to pinch myself when the seller dropped the price from $800 to $500 when I pointed out the bulge in the 32-20 bore. I heard they made good bottle openers. It's true!

Doggonit, I used to go right near there regularly, and didn't have any idea there was a gun store. That sounds like my kind of place.
My regular gun shop when I loved out there was River City Gun Exchange, in South Sac. The neighborhood is ****, and the store is always packed, but they have good prices, and most of the employees are helpful and knowledgeable. They are a favorite of Sac PD and Sheriff.
If you're into "black guns", TDS, and Sacramento Black Rifle, both in Rocklin, have good inventory.

Thanks again guys for the leads. The two I found to be to my liking was J&G and River City. I also found a place in Lincoln that wasn't too bad. It all worked out for a pretty good loop around the town. I was able to pick up a couple nice pieces at River City. I picked up a model 17(no dash) with 8 3/8 inch barrel, a very scarce gun. I also grabbed a very nice model 37 airweight . Both were on consignment. The other intersting gun they had there was a well worn 29-1. The problem with that one was the price, way too much for the worn finish and absence of original grips and case.
