Heinrich Schütz: Gib her dem Herren - YouTube

Mathilde Egyed is a practicing attorney in Budapest. I know her from another couple of boards where we mostly discuss writing fan fiction, and I helped her with English when she wrote one story. We've corresponded for about five years, and she sent me this recording of her singing in church this past Christmas. Some of you liked my posts of her prior songs, so I thought you might enjoy this, too. (She has other material on YouTube.)

It's in German, but even if you can't understand the words, you can admire her voice and the music.

It's, "Gib her dem Herren", by Schutz. (I can't do umlauts on this keyboard.)

Enjoy, I hope. I think Dr. Egyed is a pretty fair singer. I'm sure that she'd appreciate your comments, which I can pass on. (Singers, like writers, like feedback.)

Oh: the sound of people coughing in church in Hungarian sounds remarkably like people coughing in English...

I can't imagine standing up and singing before a room full of people, and I am in awe of those who can actually do it.

Very nice. Thank you for the link.

David-

Thanks right back! You are one of the most impressive members of this board, and I am especially pleased that you took the time and had the interest to respond. :)

You help a lot of people here and do it in the classiest possible manner. I'm glad that you liked the music.

George-

Thanks, and I'm glad that you recalled Silent Night from a year ago. She'll be pleased to hear that. :)

Turn Num Lock ON. Press and hold down Alt (on my computer you have to press FN and Alt). Type the following numbers for the umlaut over the vowel: For a, 132; for e, 137; for i, 139; for o, 148, for u, 129. They look like this: ä, ë. ï, ö, ü.
