I recently had an opportunity to handle a 4" Ruger GP100 in .327 Federal and I found it to be an extremely nose-heavy and heavy revolver. I don't have any full lugged J, K or N frames so maybe I am spoiled. Does anyone else think the GP100 is heavy?

I do! And kind of ugly to boot IMO, I went with the Sp101 over the Gp despite losing the extra round. It just doesn't sit right in my hand, though now the Sp is gone and I love my 686!

Three inch revolvers balance much better than four inch revolvers in Ruger and in S&W. I have both 3 inch and 4 inch in both, and I much prefer the three inch barrels for balance. The four inch barrels give you a little longer sights, but for my money do not handle nearly as well as the three inch versions.

The three inch GP-100 is pretty sweet, but not as nice as its predecessor, the 2 2/3" speed six.

But... but... the Ruger is incredibly strong. WAY stronger than a wimpy S&W. Just ask the Ruger fanboiz.

I've always liked the looks of the SP buth with a 3" barrell and no full lug. I almost got one in .357 but went with Smith.

I'm always been curious about the 327 mag. I hear it is a dying breed though.

I can't afford a K32 so this was a poor mans attempt to have a K frame sized revolver shooting 32.

Anyone remember...

"There's no question that thicker is better when it comes to burgers and shakes, but what's that got to do with revolvers?"

My first revolver was a security six. One of the most accurate pistols I have ever owned. Sorry it was stolen.
