I am in the process of trying to locate a 6906. I have searched as much as possible both here and google and am still coming up dry.

I see there are round trigger guard and square trigger guard versions. Is one an older version or is one more desierable than the other for any reason.

Thanks

Square is the older version, and is probably considered slightly less desirable by most folks due to the fact that it fits into less of the leather that you'll find for this gun. The square triggerguard, of course, was an affectation that dates from this model's original incarnation in the late '80s when such was stylish according to the training mode of the period. It doesn't hurt anything. Likewise, the round triggerguard still does a fine job of allowing a shooter to rest his/her offhand index finger if s/he so desires.

Good luck on your search - there are many of these pistols out there, and there were many police-surplus trade-ins being sold just a few years ago for as little as $270. These are likely to not have been shot much, but I'd replace the recoil spring and mag springs on any used 6906 as a matter of course.

Good choice; these are great guns. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Erich.

I was leaning towards the round trigger guard anyways but since it will be newer that is def. the way I want to go.

I know thre were alot of them floating around a while back but I am having a pretty hard time locating one now for a decent price. I have came across a few but the seller was also wanting a premium for it ~$600 which I feel is a bit much for a 6906 in used condition.

If anyone knows where to find a reasonably priced 6906 please let me know.

I have Both a 6904 and a 6906.

These are, IMO The BEST 9mm Pistols, None Better!

I can tell you for fact that I would NOT SELL my 6906 for any less than $600, and then I'd have to really think about it!

God Bless!!!!

jdkno, I can put you on a S&W #6904 if you are willing to buy sight unseen. I have purchased from the shop before and was totally pleased.

Yeah I saw a few there but they did not look like they were in the best shape, one had rust, one had chips in the finish, and another had spots all over the frame and they want $350.00 plus.

Might just have to suck it up and just get it re-finished after I get it.

I hear you but thats the difference you want to keep yours so it would take $600.00 to convince you to sell it.

What is the difference between the 6906 and 6904?? I am interested any more info on that? SIght unseen for the right price is not a problem.

jdkno, a shop bought some LE agency firearms and got a small amount of mixed auto pistols that were trial guns (various models considered for adoption by that agency but were not chosen). These guns had been fired, handled, but not used as duty weapons. I was told it was lightly marked, but no holster wear.

I have bought from them before, bought a good bit from their sister store here in Atlanta, and have never had a problem. Price is about $450.00, no box but has two mags, and then shipping and your FFL fees.

I appreciate it but that was a bit more than I was looking to spend. With shipping and FFL fees I would be well past the $500 mark. I already carry a 226R in 9mm and have a G26 so justifying $500 on another 9mm is hard for me to do.

I am getting ready to sell my PF-9 so if I can get that to happen soon enough I could always use the funds from that to offset the higer cost on a 6906.

I was looking to find one in normal used shape(light holster wear and slight handeling marks)somewhere in the $350-$400 range.

The Ten Commandments and gravemarkers are carved in stone...I have never seen a stone tag on a firearm.

I know where you can get a S&W #469 in the upper end of your price range. Also know of some LE agency trade-in #3913's in that price range.

Might be willing to think about the 3913....

Are they available through a website somewhere or is it at a store close to you?

Clyde Armory, Bogart, GA (706) 549-1842, just outside of Athens, has the #3913's. Not sure if they have website.

I see lots of 5906's, and 3913's, those seem to be the most produced even though I don't have actual production numbers. One shop here does a lot of police trade in buys, and 90% of it has been 5906's for the last few years.

I've seen a few LE trade in 6906's, some at CDNN too, but most are private owner ones and they are nowhere near as prevalent. Especially the round guards.
A round guard in mint condition very well may bring $500. They were in the $600's when new.
And worth every dime. I don't see them getting cheaper.

I figured I would keep it all in one place.

Search as I may I am having trouble finding an answer.

WHo makes decent IWB holsters for the 6909. I tried a MS VM II with my Sig 229 and did not like it so that really is not an option. Also the wait time is wayyyy to long.

Any suggestions?

Well I found and paid for my 6906 + 2 12 round mags, box and papers. Hopefully it will be here the first part of next week. It is a round trigger guard and if I had to guess from pictures I would say the gun is 90%.

Now I need to start looking into holsters. ANyone know who makes kydex holsters for the 69XX?

Can't leave us hanging like that after all these people gave you advice on where to look! Where did you find it?
