i bought a new cs45 magazine from smith and wesson, went to idpa match and it jam all the time, follower in mag keeps hanging up, with bullets loose at the top. took mag apart and the spring is different from my original magazine that came with the gun, is there a place i can get replacement springs??

Is the spring installed upside down and maybe backwards, as well?

The small circular loop should be at the top, located at the front of the mag body so it pushes up at the front of the follower. The following picture shows what you should see when the mag is disassembled ... if the spring has been installed correctly.

See how the small loop is visible at the front, beneath the follower, even when the mag is assembled ...

The mag spring should be plain, unpainted steel, NOT green. (The green springs are for the CS40.)

Some brand new .45 3rd gen mags have been shipped with the springs installed upside down and even backwards.

S&W will correct the problem if they gave you the wrong mag and/or spring.

nope it was not upside down and reverse like the original springs that came with the pistol, just wrong spring from i dont know what they use instead, who ever is working there should be fired.as you can see from the picture and compare spring from yours, also notice mag follower stuck halfway in the mag , which caused the jamming problem with the gun

Looks like a 4013TSW mag spring. !?! (Which is wide for a double column mag.)

It needs to be replaced with the 3rd gen .45 mag spring (which is the same for all 3rd gen .45's).

You should email the first pic to the company so they can see the obviously wrong spring.

Did they send you spring part # 262600000? That's the 3rd gen .45 mag spring part number.

Unless they've made a very recent spring revision (after years of using the same spring in all their 3rd gen .45's), it's always possible that they've either pulled the wrong springs, or someone dumped a shipment of the wrong springs into the wrong parts bin.

Considering someone seems to have been assembling some of their .45 mags with the springs upside down and/or backwards, it wouldn't surprise me if they have some springs mixed up in their parts dept ...

yep they sent part number 26260000 , i think they changed the design, anyway i sent them one of the new mags that i bought recently so that they can troubleshoot the problem.

update, after a few call with s&w cs and getting nowhere i sent them my magazine with pictures of the springs they should have in it. few weeks later my magazine was returned with a note that replacement springs are on the way. next day the correct springs are recieved and i am now back in business. thank you smith and wesson for researching this for me and hopefully all new cs45 mags have the correct springs.

Apparently, somebody back in their parts dept isn't paying enough attention when pulling springs to assemble mags or ship them, maybe?

Glad they got it resolved for you.

I recently purchased 3 magazines for my CS45 from Midway & they also had the wrong springs in them. I called S&W & they sent me the correct springs. Person on the phone had some disparaging remarks about who was assembling them.
