Welcome to the S&W Forum, tv44engr.

You have a very nice, relatively early, K-22 Masterpiece. It most likely shipped from the factory in November or December 1948.

The finish appears to be in Excellent condition and the sharp shoulder Magna stocks are probably original to the gun. That style lasted only until 1952. If you look on the inside of the right-hand panel, you should find a stamped serial number that matches the one on the butt of the revolver.

Welcome to the forum. Your father has good taste. The K22 is arguably one of the finest .22lr revolvers ever made and still in production. Looks to be in pretty decent shape. Grips look original and if the serial number is written or stamped on one of them it would add value to the gun. It proves they are original from the factory back in '48. These guns are fun to shoot and ammo is relatively cheap.

Welcome to the Forum! Your Dad left you one of the finest .22LR revolvers ever produced. The S&W K22 Masterpiece is an excellent handgun...extremely accurate and fun to shoot! Yours appears to be in VG condition, and it was manufactured just a couple of months later than mine (s/n K40403, also 1948). Be sure to take it out and shoot it. Enjoy!
