My dad recently passed away. He was an officer in the Marines during Vietnam and we are curious about whether this Smith and Wesson .38 was his service pistol. He probably told me 20 years ago, but we didn't get a chance to review it before he passed. Here are the details:

Model: 10-5
Type: Hand-breaker
Serial: 2D10417
Caliber: .38 Special Ctg.
Barrel Length 4 inches
Sights: Top break fixed

Probably not - that SN would be from 1977-78, after the US pulled out. The military did not use that specific model, although some revolvers of a similar type were used..

Thanks for the quick reply DWALT. Anything about the date or other info would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Zac
